Job Summary
The Healthcare Liaison will work to develop strong ties with professional healthcare referral sources in the community with a goal of securing eligible hospice referrals. They will work to educate key partners, such as long-term care facilities, physicians and hospitals, on the benefits of referral to hospice to increase the community utilization of Cedar Valley Hospice amongst eligible beneficiaries. Under the guidance of the Director of Marketing, they will develop strategic quarterly sales plans with specific goals to increase hospice census and length of stay. They will document their interactions and be expected to meet productivity standards and goals. They will work to support the mission of Cedar Valley Hospice to enrich lives with knowledge, respect and compassionate care.

Job Title: Healthcare Liaison
Location: Waterloo, Iowa
Position Type: Full Time (1.0 FTE)
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm
Reports to: Director of Marketing

Responsibilities
- Responsible for making structured in-person visits to key hospice referral accounts and identified healthcare partners for growing eligible referrals.
- Serves as main point of contact for relationship between Cedar Valley Hospice and key healthcare partners. Provides relevant patient updates, works to secure new eligible referrals from key partners.
- Responds to referrals and the needs of healthcare partners with urgency and timeliness.
- Under the direction of Director of Marketing, develops metric-based business plans to drive sustainable growth. Activates plan via regular meetings with healthcare partners. Tracks progress to plan via measurable outcomes.
- Logs visits in customer relationship management (CRM) software, as directed by leadership. Provides detailed and timely reports on visits in CRM.
- When developing referral relationships, uses Cedar Valley Hospice differentiators to align with the needs of key referral sources to ensure we are provider of choice.
- Works to provide service recovery when required with healthcare partners.
- Keeps informed about best practices in healthcare business development and policy changes specific to the hospice community as relevant to role.
- Proactively analyzes industry trends and assists in constructing appropriate growth plans within our service area.
- Provides community education, including hospice presentations, to physicians, healthcare institutions, etc. as requested.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in marketing, sales or related field preferred.
- 1-3 years’ experience in healthcare sales preferred. Ability to work independently in remote environments.
- Track record of delivering sales metrics, documentation experience, and experience using data-informed relationship development strategies.
- Strong sales skills: needs-based selling, territory management, securing meetings with key decision-makers, ability to quickly address concerns.
- Strong written and verbal skills required.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and virtual communications tools required.
- Post-acute or home-based healthcare experience a plus.
- Current Iowa driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and car insurance required.
Physical/Other Requirements
- Ability to move 25lbs with or without accommodation.
- In an 8-hour day, approximately 15% of the time is spent sitting, working at a desk, at appointments, attending meetings, etc. Approximately 85% of the day is spent walking and traveling to meet referral sources in healthcare settings.
- Employment at Cedar Valley Hospice requires being fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (Boosters are not required) OR have an approved request for reasonable accommodations for a medical, pregnancy, or religious reason, by the start date.
